As published in December 2017: Austrian public transport operator Stern & Hafferl bought a Vectron diesel locomotive; the designated 247 905 previoulsy used by Siemens for tests and presentation. Stern & Hafferl’s freight fleet now comprises of 7 locomotives.

The contract with Siemens AG Österreich was signed during the Autumn. The 247 905 is the first locomotive of its type operated in Austria. The locomotive has a power output of 2.4 MW and a top speed of 160 km/h.

Stern & Hafferl’s Vectron is equipped with the Trainguard Basic train control system and will be used in cross-border traffic between Austria and Germany, especially in the Oberösterreich area to Aschach an der Donau.
