Blue zebras, red ones, ivory coloured paint. Lokomotion Vectron locomotives were delivered with several different designs. But one machine stood out because it looked, well, naked, unfinished. Unit 193 773 did not get any striping and was commissioned in a black and while livery. Something was missing, and now we know what:

Andreas Kepplinger caught the 773 last Friday with his camera in a total new design. One cab in red, one in blue and its side now have stickers celebrating the 150th birthday of the ‘Brennereisenbahn’ (or ‘Brenner railway’ connecting Innsbruck (AT) to Verona (IT)). Do you like it? Lokomotion 193 777 is out. It is last Vectron locomotive of a batch of eight, that the freight operator from Germany ordered in 2016. Lokomotion received the machines in four different liveries:

193 770-772 have blue stripes
193 773 has no stripes, and is thus all black and white
193 774-776 have red stripes
193 777 has a ivory colored base paint, with red stripes on side 1, blue on side 2

We were already wondering. What is Lokomotion locomotive no. 193 770 doing in Hungary? How is that even possible as the machine is configurated for Germany, Austria and Italy. During the past days, both Lokomotion 193 770 and 771 were caught on camera looking slightly different than before. 193 770 no longer has the one blue stripe, a weird experiment. Lokomotion just got new stickers: numbers all around and logos upfront. But what about that single blue stripe? Work in progress?

Background: Rail freight operator Lokomotion ordered 8 Vectron MS locomotives from Siemens in February 2016. The locomotives will be equipped for operations in Germany, Austria and Italy, will have ETCS on board and have a maximum speed of 200 km/h. Lokomotion wants to use the number 193 770-777 for its new machines, so the ‘triple 7’ is within the range. Lokomotion already has a (186) 444 and (185) 666.
