[RU] Traxx Russia: First image of 2EV120-001 [updatex2]
Let's start with the news: the image of the 2EV120 of PLK.
A few years ago, Bombardier and Russian investors setup a new joint venture to built locomotives for the Russian/CIS market (1520 mm track gauge). In this, Bombardier followed Alstom and Siemens, that already deliver several types of electric locomotives to the Russian railways (RZD) and other customers in the region.
The joint venture was originally named ELZ (Engelssky lokomotivny zavod), but has changed its name into PLK now (Pervaya lokomotivnaya kompagniya). PLK is currently building its first prototype locomotive: a two section, two system (25kV AC + 3kV DC) electric, the designated 2EV120-001. It is painted in the livery of the Russian railways, although PLK has no orders yet.
The current issue of Railvolution brings an interesting fact: the 2EV120 (also referred to Traxx RU or Traxx F120MS) can have 'Last Mile' diesel engines if the customer desires this. PLK is able to install a 500 kW diesel engine in each section, so the locomotive can be used for shunting, a first for the Russian/CIS market.
Other parameters for a two section 2EV120 locomotive: 120 kph max / 8.8MW duration power / 9.6 MW max power / 600 kN traction effort / 700 kN starting traction effort / 760 kN max starting traction effort in booster mode / weight varies around 200 tonnes.
Update: Meanwhile the official presentation took place in the PLK factory. A first order is likely to be placed, when PLK succeeds in getting the prototypes certified for services in Russia.
Update2: A new link with extra information (in Russian). A video about the 2EV120 is included.
