In August 2013, the Ukrainian railways (UZ) closed a deal with Premier Leasing for financing 350 new electric freight locomotives. The deal included three different types:
- 50 3kV DC twin-section 2ES10 series electrics built by Ural Locomotives (Siemens + Sinara)
- 230 3kV DC 2ES4k series electrics from Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant (NVEZ)
- 70 25kV AC electrics type 2EL5 from Luganskteplovoz, the Ukrainian subsidiary of Transmashholding

Railvolution.net brings a snippit about the first 'Granit' locomotives for the railways of Ukraine (UZ). Remarkable is that UZ is using the exact same numbering scheme. Next to a RZD 2ES10-003 there is a UZ 2ES10-003 now.
Update: railjournal.com brings a report on the delivery of the first three units.
Ural locomotives (Siemens + Sinara) is building 50 double units in blue for UZ. The initial agreement between UZ and Ural Locomotives was signed in 2012. First units should be ready for service in 2014. They will be operated by Lviv Railways, part of the Ukrainian railways.

Railjournal brings the news about the Ukrainian railways (UZ), having closed a deal with Premier Leasing for financing 350 new freight electrics.
Part of this 2.8 billion US dollar deal are 50 locomotives to be delivered by Ural locomotives (Siemens + Sinara). UZ is the third customer for the 2ES10 twin-section locomotive, presented in 2010. Similar locomotives are built for the Russian railways (RZD) and OAO Apatit mining company.
An initial agreement between UZ and Ural Locomotives was signed in 2012. First units should be ready for service in 2014. They will be operated by Lviv Railways, part of the Ukrainian railways.
