The Italian private railway operator Fuori Muro awarded Siemens a contract for two Vectron DC locomotives in March 2012. It was the first Vectron order from Italy. The locomotives, designated as 191 002 and 003 were built at the Siemens plant in Munich-Allach and completed during 2013. Official handover was originally scheduled for December 2013 but had to be postponed.
Since 2017 both locomotives are part of the fleet of ROSCO LocoItalia - they are listed now in this section. |

[IT] FuoriMuro Vectrons in service [updated]
On 28.01.2016 we got the first images of FuoriMuro Vectrons in active service. That day the 191 003 started working between Lecco and Chiasso, and 191 002 ran to Ravenna and Udine. The images show the 003 running light from Chiasso to Lecco Maggianico to collect a rake of steel wagons for Emmenbrücke, Switzerland. Update: an image of the train to Emmenbrücke. [DE/IT] Fuori Muro Vectron locomotives arrive in Italy
On 29.11.2015, RailAdventure took Fuori Muro Vectron 191 002 and 003 to Italy, using RTC locomotive 189 902. (Roberto di Trani / Werner Moleri)
Italian freight operator Fuori Muro ordered these two machines in March 2012. The delivery of the machines, originally scheduled for December 2013, has been delayed for almost two years. Main cause is the long homologation period that was needed to get the Vectron approved for Italy.

[DE/AT/IT] Vectron transport weekend: 191 011 and 012 for CFI leave Munich [updated]
Today, RailAdventure 103 222 is taking two Vectron locomotives for Italy to Brenner station. The machines involved are the grey 191 011 and 191 012 for Italian railfreight operator CFI. Both machines were ordered in February 2014 and completed right away in the consecutive months. However, as Siemens is still awaiting the official approval of the Vectron for Italy, delivery was suspended until now.
Update: The machines have arrived at Brenner station this afternoon. Now their journey will continue to Bologna (IT).
FuoriMuro from Italy also awaits the delivery of two Vectron locomotives (191 002 and 003). These were ordered in March 2012. The two locomotives have been parked in Munich for quite some time now, they were already seen being completed early in 2014.

[IT] Siemens releases image of FuoriMuro Vectron
Siemens has released this picture of the two FuoriMuro Vectron locomotives, unit no. 191 002 and 003, at the factory perimeter in Munich. You see the locomotives with liveries very similar to those of ES64U4 series locomotives, already operated by Inrail and FuoriMuro in Italy.
Both units were already completed last year, but still await delivery. This is only useful when the homologation process of the Vectron DC in Italy is completed. [correction] Dynamic trials, part of the homologation, have started one month ago.

[IT] Vectron 191 001 is moving, 189 823 hired to CFI [update]
After a long period of standstill, movement has been recorded regarding the Vectron testbed locomotive in Italy, the designated 191 001.
One week ago, the locomotive was transported from Bologna Interporto to Firenze. It is being prepared for dynamic tests. The graffiti was removed during the past days.
[Update] On 14.02.2014, the test train was ready, being composed of locomotives RFI 402B 101 and 142 and Austrian passenger coaches and of course 191 001. Images here.
Homologation for the South European country is an important issue, with now two pending deliveries of Vectron locomotives to Italian operators. The FuoriMuro 191 002 and 003 are ready, but are parked around the Siemens factory in Munich. Delivery of these machines was originally scheduled for late 2013.
Since yesterday we know about CFI, also about to receive two Vectron locomotive in the second half of 2014. For now, CFI will operate the last 189 series stock locomotive available, 189 823. - MS

[EU] Vectron meets all applicable EU requirements for approval
Read the complete press statement here.
The Vectron series of locomotives has completed its certification procedure for conventional rail transport in accordance with the Technical Specification for Interoperability TSI CR LOC&PAS. The EC certificate was presented yesterday by Ulrich Wiescholek, Head of the German notified body Eisenbahn-Cert (EBC), to Karl-Hermann Klausecker, CEO of Siemens Locomotives and Components.
“Vectron is the first electrical locomotive platform to be certified according to this specification in Europe. The certificate enormously simplifies for us the process of national approvals with regard to the expenditure and the time required. This means we have taken another important step toward approval of the Vectron throughout Europe”, said Karl-Hermann Klausecker on receiving the certificate.
The Vectron locomotives thus meet all standardized, pan-European technical specifications for the approval of locomotives. These specifications not only include the TSI CR LOC&PAS, but also the TSI HS RST for rolling stock of the trans-European high-speed rail system, Class 2 (vehicles with a maximum speed of between 190 km/h and 250 km/h), the TSI SRT (safety in rail tunnels), the TSI PRM (access for persons with restricted mobility), the noise requirements according to the TSI HS RST and the TSI NOI (rolling stock - noise) of conventional rail transport, and the TSI CCS (control, command and signaling) when using an ERTM system.
This has established the basis for obtaining the individual national approvals in Europe more easily and with considerably reduced test expenditure. At present, the approval authorities of all EU member states are aligning their national approval requirements with the TSI regulations. This means that only those national requirements that are not covered by the TSI still have to be met. These are being notified to the European Railway Agency (ERA) as National Technical Rules (NTR).
A number of customer-specific versions of the Vectron series of locomotives have already been able to obtain series approval from the German Federal Railway Authority (EBA). Thanks to the extended certification now available, all further Vectron variants pending approval at EBA can obtain continuous series approval until December 2020, after which applications can be submitted for extensions. In the case of locomotives without TSI CR LOC&PAS certification, the series approval ends in mid-2017.

[IT] Siemens sells two Vectron locomotives to Italy for the first time
It is official now, two Vectrons for Italian operator Fuori Muro. The complete press statement here.
The Italian private railway operator Fuori Muro has awarded Siemens a contract for two Vectron DC locomotives. It is the first Vectron order from Italy. The vehicles will be built at the Siemens plant in Munich-Allach and delivered to the customer in December 2013. The Vectron is the new generation of Siemens locomotives for the European market and was presented for the first time at the 2010 InnoTrans International Trade Fair for Transport Technology.
Fuori Muro will use the two locomotives primarily to transport freight on the roughly 60 kilometer long railway line connecting the port city of Genoa and the Interporto Rivalta Scrivia terminal in its hinterland. With a driving power of 5.2 megawatt and a weight of 80 tons the Vectron DC operates at a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour. The contract awarded by Fuori Muro is the first which Siemens has received for its Vectron DC locomotives worldwide. The first customer for Vectron locomotives was the Munich-based locomotive leasing company Railpool, which ordered six Vectron AC in December 2010. - Siemens

[IT] Two Vectron locomotives for Italian operator FuoriMuro?

update 2012|01|17
[IT] Two Vectron locomotives for Italian operator FuoriMuro?
FuoriMuro, an Italian company currently handling all freight rail services in the harbor of Genoa, wants to become a fully fledged railway freight operator. A safety certificate should be issued by Italian railway authority (ANSF) in the Spring of 2012. Nine drivers are already in training at Linea.
Then FuoriMuro wants to start its own freight shuttles, for example to Rivalto Terminal. Therefore it ordered two Vectron locomotives from Siemens, to be delivered late 2013. - ship2shore.it
Railcolor comment: It is officially the second Vectron order for Siemens. Railpool was the first to order this new generation of locomotives, six in total. However, no major orders up til now. With no less than eight electric Vectron Siemens is now eagerly working on the homologation of the Vectron in many different countries. Poland was the first to issue a (temporary) permit.
Siemens does not confirm this information.
