This section is about a batch of twenty so called 'Vertriebslagerloks', that we will call stock locomotives from now on. Between 2008 and 2011, Siemens (slowly) built a batch of twenty stock locomotives. It started with 189 800 for MTEG and 189 700 and 701 for Cargo Trans Vagon from Rumania, followed by another 17 units in a white base livery.
The first three white units, designated E 189 801, E 189 840 and E 189 820 were decorated with Siemens promotional logos and markings, similar to those once applied on former test locomotives E 189 929. The remaining 14 machines just got a white base livery and a black frame. The ones with Italy in their base package (sub type VE, 189 82x) got a red front surface.
With the completion of 189 846 and 823 before the summer of 2011, this bacth was completed, by delivery a total of four different configurations was there:
class 189-VE: 4 locomotives: E 189 820-823
class 189-VH2: 7 locomotives: E 189 800 for the MTEG and E 189 801-806
class 189-VM: 7 locomotives: E 189 840-846
class 189-VR: 2 locomotives for CTV: 189 700 and 701
The idea is that Siemens can serve customers with small orders on the short term with these machines. In the near future, the Siemens Vectron will offer the same possibilities, but it still will take years to get this new platform approved and working in all the countries where the ES 64 F4/189 is already welcome.
MRCE Dispolok was the first to purchase Siemens E 189 stock locomotives. In June 2011, Siemens delivered E 189 840-844, all repainted in black, to the leasing company.

You would almost forget about them, but Siemens still owned two ES64F4 locomotives that have been used on temporary basis over the past years, be it for tests, or for renting out to customers. The Steiermarkbahn operated the 822 until 2017, the 823 was used by CFI in Italy and last seen as test locomotive in Germany and the Netherlands.
Now both engines reportedly have been added to the fleet of DB Cargo. Unexpected, but not unlogical. DB Cargo has one of the largest fleets of machines of this type (90 in total) so the company has extensive experience with the two newbees. One thing is different though, the 822/823 have a different country specific package (version VE DE/AT/CH/IT/NL(SI-HR)) compared to the DB machines (VJ NL-DE or VM-50Hz DE-PL-CZ). It is not known to us if this will change in the (near) future.
The white 189 822 and 823 are the last two unsold units of batch of 20 electrics that were built in 2009-2011. Machines from this production batch were sold to MTEG (1), WLE (1), Locon (2), CTV (2, Romania), Express Group (1, Slovakia), PKP Cargo (1) and MRCE (10).

[DE/AT/IT] Siemens stock locomotives make themselves useful
There are three EuroSprinter locomotives left, that are still property of Siemens: 183 717 and 189 822 and 823. But not being sold, does not mean these machines are not being used. These recent images show 183 717 in a CargoServ train. Both 189 822 and 823 are being hired to operators that have recently ordered new Siemens locomotives. 189 822 will be replacaed by 183 717 in 2015 in the fleet of Austrian operator Steiermarkbahn. 189 823 is now in service of Italian operator CFI, that will get tewo Vectron locomotives in the second half of 2014.

[IT] Vectron 191 001 is moving, 189 823 hired to CFI [update]
After a long period of standstill, movement has been recorded regarding the Vectron testbed locomotive in Italy, the designated 191 001.
One week ago, the locomotive was transported from Bologna Interporto to Firenze. It is being prepared for dynamic tests. The graffiti was removed during the past days.
[Update] On 14.02.2014, the test train was ready, being composed of locomotives RFI 402B 101 and 142 and Austrian passenger coaches and of course 191 001. Images here.
Homologation for the South European country is an important issue, with now two pending deliveries of Vectron locomotives to Italian operators. The FuoriMuro 191 002 and 003 are ready, but are parked around the Siemens factory in Munich. Delivery of these machines was originally scheduled for late 2013.
Since yesterday we know about CFI, also about to receive two Vectron locomotive in the second half of 2014. For now, CFI will operate the last 189 series stock locomotive available, 189 823. - MS

[AT] Steiermarkbahn orders second ES 64 U4 locomotive
In the beginning of 2015, Siemens will delivered a second ES 64 U4 type locomotive to Steiermarkbahn from Austria. It is the second locomotive of this type for this operator, which wants to use it for long haul freight services. This new 1216 961 is the very last locomotive of its type built by Siemens. Currently it is still used by the manufacturer as machine no. 183 717. This year it will be used for various ETCS testing.
Until Siemens hands over 183 717 / 1216 961 to Steiermarkbahn, the operator hires multi-system electric 189 822. In the past weeks this locomotive already arrived at the Steiermarkbahn depot where it got new logos. - Siemens

[IT] Update: Siemens 189 822 and 823 [updated]
The current whereabouts of Siemens stock locomotives 189 822 and 189 823:
The newest testbed locomotives in Italy are not very active. We have not seen any dynamic trials with 191 001 yet. The EuroLight prototype 284 002, that arrived in Italy in 2012, has made its first run only today.
Siemens stock locomotive 189 822 arrived in Italy on 12.09.2013, but was parked in Chiasso ever since (which resulted in this nice tricolore line-up btw).
From 15 until 17 October 2013, static trials were performed with the 822. Personnel of Siemens and the SBB workshop of Chiasso tested safety equipment and SIFA. All was done under the supervision of Rina. - GG
After completion of the tests, the locomotive returned to Germany.
The other white ES 64 f4, Siemens 189 823, actively made its round on the Wegberg-Wildenrath test ring last week. - WS
update: Yesterday, 189 822 and 823 ran through Germany together. At the end of the day the stopped at Dresden.

[DE] Railcolor Report: open door day in Wegberg-Wildenrath
On 01.07.2012, Siemens invited everyone to come and take a look at its Wegberg-Wildenrath test center. Visitors could run the T2 and T3 test oval with Schienenbusse and a Belgian Desiro-ML. There was a world attempt with BRIO-tracks. Girls were extracting DNA from unions etc etc. There were many Siemens trains standing around. Some open for public, others hidden in the background. We wouldn't be surprized of all 15 Velaro-D trainsets were present. The same for many Desiro-ML trainsets (for example 08521, 08523) and locomotives for Belgium. Trams were being repaired after heavy crashes, locomotives were refitted with ETCS. Much to see. A big thanks to Siemens to give us this opportunity. Our report of the day:
EuroSprinter for sale! (black vs. white)
For anyone still interested: Siemens still has three 189 series locomotives for sale: E 189 845, 822 and 823. All three were present during the day, parked next to a black one: ES 64 F4-995.
PCW Thunderbirds are go!
In Wegberg, Siemens has several locomotives used for shunting. The have PCW numbers. PCW 6 is a red Vossloh G800BB, PCW 7 is the EuroRunner and the EuroSprinter godfather is now PCW 8. The question however still remains, will PCW 8 ever run again? For two years now, the machine is parked in Wegberg, have some sort of damage... PCW 7 presented itself in two different sizes. However, the model was a silver scale locomotive, with small inkjet-printed paper logos and graphics.
Everybody Vectron!
A long waiting queue was there all day. Everybody wanted to climb into Vectron 193 922, parked outside. We did not go in, but made some nice close-ups of the exterior and some impressions. Again a tip for everyone looking for works numbers (193 924 = SMP 21697) of Siemens locomotives: go to cab no.1, check the frame right above the right buffer. Good luck!
Hide and seek
Some locomotives did not like all the attention. One had to know what to look for to find them. All in the back of the halls we could see 193 901 (the only Vectron now with the old, Belgian front bow) and Rail One's 474 102. Hidden in the bush outside, two Traxx locomotives were spotted; 186 121 (edit) in Fyra-colors and IGT 246 011 still celebrating German's 150th railways anniversary. Behind ES 64 F4-453 we could identify ES 64 F4-409 and Nordcargo 474 201. - DvdR
SNCB 19 vs Vectron and the auto-coupler
Around fifteen HLE 19 series locomotives were seen in Wegberg. The 1909, 1906 and 1913 were in front of the public. We took the opportunity to make some good close-ups of 1906 and its Schwab-coupler system, that what makes the HLE19 different from its normal HLE18 sisters. Also note the special steel, futuristic construction behind it.
And in the mean while in Mönchengladbach...

Recently, PKP has returned ES 64 F4-151 and -152 to MRCE Dispolok. It used to hire four such units of which now only the -153 and -154 remain. Together with the 846 they will be used on international services, mainly from and to the Czech Republic.

On 03.10.2011, Lokomotion 185 664 transported five Siemens stock locomotives to the north; 189 803, 804, 805, 806 (VH) and 189 845 (VM). They went to Poland, to get approved by UTK, the Polish transport authority. This means not much much than getting a stamp. Before Poland was entered, the 189 802 with 'I love Hamburg' stickers joined the group. - DSO
On 05.10.2011, ES 64 F4-846 went to Poland via the Czech Republic, that it entered through Bad Schandau. It was first hauled by PKP Cargo Logistics EU43-004, starting in Nurnberg. Half way, PKP took over the engine with a black MRCE locomotive and transported it to Poland. - PK
Most likely, PKP has bought this locomotive, so it can return a rented to locomotive to MRCE. This however is not fuly confirmed yet.

These locomotives will be equipped for use in Central and Eastern Europe and be certified to operate on long-distance routes from the Black Sea to the Baltic ports in Poland and to the Dutch border.
The vehicles will be manufactured in the Siemens Plant in Munich and are due to be delivered by June 2011 at the latest. - Siemens
Railcolor.net comment: Om 26.03.2011, stock locomotives 189 840 and 841 were seen on their way to Berlin, most likely for a repaint. Both engines can be the first two units of this order, as they already have the right (VM) configuration. [EU] three new stock locomotives for Siemens
The fleet of white coloured Siemens locomotives has grown in the past weeks:
189 820 - VE
The 189 820 (equipped for the Netherlands) first appeared in the Netherlands, around the work shops of Nedtrain in Rotterdam. It got a temporary disguise overthere so that everyone thought it was unit 189 840 (not compatible with the Dutch network). The real 189 840 also visited the Netherlands, but was there a week before unit 820. Curious detail in the map of Europe on this engine is that Limburg (a Dutch department) appearantly is no longer a part of the country! - SB
189 821 - VE
This engines was spotted during a transport from Munich to Wegberg-Wildenrath in the first week of November. Like the 820, it should have the VE package. - WS

[NL] Siemens 189 840 in the Netherlands
Yesterday, Siemens stock locomotive 189 840 entered the Netherlands, piggybacking a grain train of Captrain. Curious as this unit hasn't got Holland in it's package. Destination was the Nedtrain work shop in Rotterdam Waalhaven. - LP/HdJ

[DE] Siemens White Lady released form Wegberg-Wildenrath
Siemens 189 801 has been released from the Wegberg-Wildenrath test center again. Its design is slightly modified, a red warning stripe has been added up front. Remarkable as the machine is not homologated for Italy. Yesterday evening the 801 was on its way to Poland for delivery. - HG
We can not wait for the line-up of all Siemens' white ladies... Should be nice to see that on the upcoming Innotrans in Berlin next September.

[DE/IR] Exotic input for Wegberg-Wildenrath: Iranian EuroRunner and 189 801 [update]
Today two very interesting new Siemens locomotives were transported from Munich to Wegberg-WIldenrath:
First you see a blue painted EuroRunner derivate to be delivered to the RAI, the railways of Iran. It's a 2400 kW, single cab diesel unit.
The second machine is Siemens ES 64 F4-801; a new demonstrator for the manufacturer from Bavaria. It has a white and grey livery similar to ER 20-2007 and it's decorated (like former E189 929) with the slogan 'Borderless Mobility'. It has the VH-configuration (DE-AT-PL) its NVR number is 91 80 6189 801-4 D-PRESS. The Eisenbahn-Bau- und Betriebsgesellschaft Pressnitztalbahn mbH will only act as 'halter' (das einstellende Eisenbahn- verkehrsunternehmen) for this machine, as it will remain property of Siemens for now. - AH/SH/PB
