The 12X experimental locomotive is a state-of-the-art product from the early nineties, developed by AEG. It was built in Berlin-Hennigsdorf. This former LEW-factory was then property of AEG. Currently, this location is property of Bombardier, as is the 12X.

[DE] 12X: how are you doing?
Since 02.2014, the former AEG/Adtranz/Bombardier prototype and testbed locomotive 128 001 is part of the collection of the Thüringer Eisenbahnverein in Weimar, Germany. Christian Klotz visited the machine last weekend and made some up to date shots of its ex- and interior.

[DE/CH] Modern history: AEG/Adtranz 12X / 128 001
A nice thing of being a database, is that the system gets richer every day. It is getting more complete with every piece of information that is contributed to it. The info maybe brand new, but can be about modern history too. Check out these images of test bed prototype locomotive 128 001-5, that is nowadays parked at Weimar (DE), under the caring supervision of the Thüringer Eisenbahnverein.
These shots show the machine still in active duty for Bombardier, being test locomotive in Switzerland. They show the machine together with, at that time, brand new DB Schenker 185 226 and 227. Thank you PA.

[DE] The AEG 12X locomotive in Weimar
Since 19.02.2014, the experimental 12X locomotive (128 001-5) is in Weimar. It is now part of the railway vehicle collection in the former Betriebswerk.
Two images made yesterday of this white locomotive. It matches nicely with former DB locomotive
143 117-0, that has been repainted and renumbered as another prototype locomotive from recent history: 243 001. - TW

[DE] A new home for 128 001, the AEG prototype locomotive
Yesterday, locomotive 128 001-5 (aka the AEG/Adtranz 12X) left the Bombardier perimeters in Berlin-Hennigsdorf. The 12X experimental locomotive was a state-of-the-art product from the early nineties, developed by AEG. It was parked in Hennisgdorf since July 2010.
Soon-to-be DB locomotive 146 551-7 took the unique locomotive (train no.92473) to Weimar. There it will be part of the collection of the Thüringer Eisenbahnverein e.V (TEV). The locomotive remains property of Bombardier. - SC/TEV
The TEV itself published a nice photo set of the transport, yesterday: click here.

[DE] History: building the AEG 12X locomotive
Sometimes we get very special images. Things that everyone still can remember, but that are already part of history. An example is the construction of locomotives in Hennigsdorf, a factory of AEG back in 1994. The images show the construction of AEG experimental locomotive 12X. It is one of the machines that started the development of all the modern electrics on this website.
Nowadays, the machines is not in use anymore, but it is back at its birth ground since 2010. - DGB

[DE] eye for an eye with 12X
Yesterday, we finally got the chance to take a close look on one of the ancestors of the modern electrics on this website, the AEG 12X or 128 001. Nowadays, it´s property of Bombardier Transportation and specially for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Bombardier´s competence center in Berlin-Hennigsdorf, the 12X was transported from Zurich to Berlin. As far as we know, the engine can not run by itself anymore (or at least is not allowed to). The unit has been parked in Zürich for years, as can be seen on Google Earth.
