On 28 September 2007, the FNM Group ordered five Traxx DC electrics for its freight division Nordcargo. The order included an option for five more, of which three became a fixed order on 31.01.2008. All machines are painted in a neutral blue and grey livery with Nordcargo logos. The eight electrics were delivered from 01.2009 until 07.2009 by Bombardier from its factory in Vado Ligure (IT).
Note that in September 2008, DB Schenker took a 49% share in Nordcargo. Therefore, since delivery FNM E483s are often used for both Nordcargo and DB Schenker services. Per 01.01.2015, the company operates officially under the name DB Schenker Rail Italia services.

DB Cargo is the new DB Schenker Rail
You may have read about the current re-organization of the Deutsche Bahn. Together with consultation company McKinsey, it is redefining its services and organizational structure, so it can face the rapidly changing market circumstances.
One of the measures taken is the merger of all rail transport services of the Deutsche Bahn into one division now called 'Traffic & Transport'. Railfreight logistics is taken out of the logistics division and will continue under the 'good old' DB Cargo brand name. To the outside world the Traffic & Transport division will brand itself as 'DB' so we don't expect locomotives nor carriages to get DB Cargo logos again. So the DB logo currently in use will stay as it is.
Until the end, all international railfreight divisions (for example DB Schenker Rail Polska and DB Schenker Rail Italia) will be renamed as DB Cargo.
The non-rail logistic services will continue under the name DB Schenker. Separating the rail related activities from the rest fits the strategy to (partially) sell the new DB Schenker. DB has intentions to do this, but faces strong opposition form the German government. To be continued.
For our website, it means we have to rename the owner name of several thousands of locomotives. This will be done in one big batch. We are working on it.

From the DB Schenker Rail website: In 2010, DB Schenker Rail acquired a 49% of the shares of Nordcargo, and then in 2011 an additional 11% of the shares so passing to 60%. The remaining 40% is property of Ferrovie Nord Milano (FNM).
Several years ago, FNM bought eight Traxx DC locomotives for Nordcargo, delivered in a blue and grey livery. As of January 1, Nordcargo is officially rebranded as DB Schenker Rail Italia. The company announced that this will become visible. Fact is that locomotive E 483.102 now has appeared with DB logos. Most likely, the other seven machines will follow soon:

On 31.01.2011, FNM/Nordcargo E483.104 crashed into a stolen van at a level crossing at Romano di Lombardia (Milano-Brescia). In April 2012 we could check out this locomotive at Bombardier's Vado Ligure works during repair.
Since yesterday, the machine is available for revenue services again. The image shows the machine with its first regular train, no.54476 Novi san Bovo-Chiasso. - Thanks to GG

 Today, Bombardier E483.102 - FNM E 483.102 as the first one of its batch, got its final Nordcargo logos, see picture. This week, on 18.03.2009, FNM/Nordcargo expects to get its fourth Traxx F140 DC electric in blue and grey. E 483.105-108 will be delivered until the end of June 2009, at a pace of one per month.
 In the mean time the fleet of Nordcargo is subjected to many changes. The new MRCE Dispolok ES 64 F4-401, and the refitted ES 64 F4-094 have arrived in Italy in the mean time. The 401 will be immatriculated by Nordcargo during its homologation process for Italy, being the first representative of the new ES 64 F4/4 sub serie. ES 64 F4-094 (VE-configuration with SCMT) will be used by Nordcargo during the retrofitting of the other VE-machines (ES 64 F4-088, 091, 092, 093, and 099) with SCMT, that Nordcargo is hiring. - Nordcargo

 On 20.01.2009 the new HectorRail unit 241.008 was spotted at Kassel Rangierbahnhof. The machine is nicknamed 'Galore'. Maybe this name is also James-Bond-inspired, coming from Pussy Galore from the 007-blockbuster 'Goldfinger'. This would make sense as 241.007, delivered and transported to Sweden in the last weeks of December 2008, carries the name Bond, of course... These two new machines together represent the second batch of this type for Swedish operator HectoRail, being ordered in November 2007. In May 2008 another two machines have been ordered, but their delivery is still pending. - CK/DSO/RIRF
   Other fresh ones from Kassel in the picture. CBRail 285 105 leaves Kassel with Railion unit 185 002, which has had an overhaul and now fits in better with its normal 185 series collegues. Third machine is Veolia 185 598, which seems to have a better future than its Traxx MS brothers. Its the first 185.2 machine for Veolia, two more are on order. The other two picture show the also brand new 486 503 for BLS Cargo and 186 223 for ATC/CobraRail. A special thanks goed out to Christian Klotz for these images.

On the Railcolor.net forum, now two images can be found of two brand new Bomabrdier products. First images appeared on the net of a Chinese HXD3B locomotive, produced by Bombardier and Dalian locomotive works. 500 units have been ordered in February 2007, to be delivered from 2009 to 2011. These 6-axle Co'Co' configured machines have a duration power of 9600 kW(!). > Link.

Interesting news from Italy. The fleet of open access freight operator Nordcargo will experience a true metamorphosis in the upcoming time. ES64F4 009, 013, 025, 088, 091, 092, 093, 098, 099 rented from MRCE-Dispolok and E 483 008, 009 and 010, on hire from Angel Trains Cargo leasing will soon turn blue. On all locomotives, the silver sides will be decorated with blue colored vynils, with a small grey-colored Nordcargo logo in the center.
E474 201, recently purchased by Nordcargo, and the E483 series machines that are on order by Bombardier will be painted completely in the new corporate colours of Nordcargo; Blue sides with grey cabins.
Finally, Nordcargo ordered three additional E483 series machines on 31.01.2008, making a total of 8 machines on order. - MF
