order details |
A curios story so far is the history of Traxx F140 MS locomotives for Veolia Transport. In 2007 the company ordered nine units, with an option for twelve more. Of these nine machines, six would be built as MS locomotives. In September and October 2008 the first two locomotives, 186 181 and 182, were completed and left the factory for their maiden run. Both had the DE/AT/BE/NL configuration.
In June 2009, Bombardier built another three Traxx MS units for Veolia, the designated 186 184, 185 and 186. They were not delivered either.

[DE/FR] Traxx MS for AKIEM

update 2010|07|20
[DE/FR] Traxx MS for AKIEM
We can show you a bit more about the new looks of E 186 184 and E 186 185. This DSO post shows bot units in their new silver base livery with white fronts and decorated with AKIEM logos, the leasing company of the SNCF Group. Both the 184 and 185 were outshopped in the summer of 2009, destined for French operator Veolia. However, as we all know, Veolia as freight operator does not exist anymore. The non-French activities are now property of Captrain, also part of the SNCF family, so AKIEM is not that strange to end up with...
Veolia originally ordered nine Traxx units in 2007, eight were built and outshopped in Veolia colours. The three Traxx AC2 machines were delivered at the end of 2009 and are now part if the ITL/SNCF fleet in Germany. 186 181 and 182 were sold to leasing company Railpool and are now hired to SBB Cargo. 186 184 and 185 go to AKIEM, so only the 186 still remains. Today it was spotted in Eichenberg, Germany. It still has the basic Veolia livery...

update 2010|01|31
[DE/FR] Veolia coloured 186s are still alive...
As you may know, Bombardier has built five Traxx F140 MS locomotives painted in the colours of Veolia Cargo; 186 181, 182, 184, 185 and 186. The 181 and 182 were sold to Railpool, but the other three are still there.. Since the summer they have been stored around Kassel. In December 2009 they were parked at Kassel Rangierbahnhof, together with CBRail 186 136, 137 and 139.
Now one of them has returned from the dead, 186 186 was spotted last friday being part of a convoy heading for Wegberg - Wildenrath. It was accompagnied by Railpool's 185 677 and 678 and CBRail 186 238. There is no information on the how and why of this visit... It is also still questionable of the Veolia-coloured 186s will ever be delivered to the customer they were built for. Veolia is now split up and part of SNCF and Eurotunnel, and as these company already operate a considarable batch of Prima locomotives equipped for the French-German connection (the corridor these Traxx units are also equipped for) there is maybe no need for these three exotics anymore.
This adds another chapter to the weird story of Veolia and Traxx MS units. Officially, six units are on order, five have been built... - WS

update 2009|06|25
[DE] from Kassel
Several unsolved cases from Kassel this time. First one is about the three prototype 185 series locomotives built for DB Schenker back in 1999. The image shows the recent come-back of the 185 003 Kassel. Several websites mention the recent withdrawal of all three machens (per 04.05.2009) and that one of the 185 001-003 have been seen with a NVR number ending with -BTK and not -DB. Let's see what the future will bring!
- elektrolok.de / CK
Another case is that of again two Traxx F140 MS locomotives for operator Veolia. This operator has 9 Traxx machines on order (3x F140 AC2 / 185 and 6x F140 MS / 186). Three have been completed in 2008; 185 598, 186 181 and 186 182. The first one is parked around Kassel ever since, the other two lost their Veolia logos after delivery and were rented out to ITL. However, this operator has recently ended the contract for both machines so now they are back by Bombardier again.
Last week, two new electrics in the colours of Veolia have been spotted during their maiden run: 186 184 and 185. So new machines are still to come. Let's see how the story of the Traxx fleet of Veolia continues. - DSO/Rolandrail.net/DSO

Check the VC / Akiem E 186 section for more information.
In the summer of 2009, Bombardier completed unit no.3, 4 and 5 for Veolia, curiously numbered as 186 184-186. An 186 183 never existed as far as we know. These three units have a different confugration compared with the 181-182. These three can run to Belgium and France. After completion, all three were parked around Kassel. In December 2009 all three could be found at Kassel Rangierbahnhof, together with CBRail 186 136, 137 and 139. In 2010 some of these locomotives were used for trials or transport. For that, the 184 and 185 got their Veolia logos removed. In May 2010, the 184 and 185 were both called back to the paint shops of Bombardier in Kassel where they got a complete new silver livery, with white fronts. On 20.07.2010, they both left Kassel with AKIEM logos, their new employer. The move from Veolia to AKIEM is not so strange. The non-French activities of Veolia were purchased by SNCF, and AKIEM is also part of SNCF concern.
26.07.2010, unit 186 186 was transported to the paint shop of Bombardier in Kassel and with that the Veolia E186 was history. All units where used for various trials in and around Kassel, Hennigsdorf and the French-German border region in 2010 and 2011.
E186 185 was the first to be used for regular services. Akiem rented it out to ITL starting in the last week of january 2011. |
